#16: Gifts for Wine Lovers
Helllooo @everyone,
In honour of my favourite time of the year, here is a gift guide for wine lovers.
10: Rosewood’s Looking Glass ~ $26.00
The answer to “I know Aunt Susan likes red wine, but I’m not sure what kind…”. This blend is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with a few other varietals (like Merlot) peeking through. It’s an approachable Bordeaux blend that tastes like hot blackberry crumble, what more could Aunt Susan want?
9. Cocchi Storico Vermouth Di Torino ~ $47.99
If you’re not a Vermouth drinker, you’re missing out. This is an aperitif to serve *before* the meal. She’s spicy, she’s citrusy, she’s herby in the best way. Buy this for someone who is a budding mixologist, don’t buy this for someone who drinks Palm Bay. Sorry, not sorry.
8. Traynor Family - Ophelia Piquette ~ $17.99
This is for my seltzer lovers, my Palm Bay truthers, and my Cottage Springs advocates. She’s very easy drinking, aesthetically pleasing, and how cute would a couple flowers be poking from this bottle? You know it’s going to be a crushable bottle when the tasting notes include “sour watermelon candy”.
7. Wine Folly: Magnum Edition: The Master Guide ~ $35.30
I love this book. It has everything you would need to know if you’re looking to learn more about grapes, growing regions, and everything in between. I included the Am*zon link *blah*, because it’s universally convenient. However, I urge you to support local book stores if you can!
6. Wine Girl ~ $20.66
This is a book about America’s youngest Sommelier, and how she got there. I was enthralled by this one. It was particularly interesting to me as a young woman in the Wine and Spirit industry. Although, I think this book has a lot of good life lessons for any women in the workforce. Especially, customer service industries. I will say that there are mentions of sexual abuse in this book, so please be careful when purchasing for yourself or others as it can be triggering.
5. Sommelier Two Glass Caddy (Amber) ~ $42.49
I believe that not only is this a good Christmas gift, but it’s also a phenomenal housewarming gift. It’s a really nice, polished piece for a countertop that displays your favourite wines for everyone to see. I just ask you one thing, if you do purchase this, please don’t partner it with Barefoot Chardonnay…T.I.A!
4. Holiday Wine Labels ~ $10.00
I think the idea of holiday wine labels is fun. Sue me. I’m sure you could also make this a DIY project, but if you’re like me… it’s better that someone else does the work.
3. Set of 2 Gabriel Glas Austrian Crystal Wine Glasses ~ $140.12
The most pretentious thing about me is the fact that I prefer drinking my wine in Austrian Crystal wine glasses. If you’ve had wine out of one of these glasses, you just know that the experience is different. If you’re an avid wine drinker, I urge you to make this investment. The ones I included are the “standard” model, but they also come in ~Gold~ editions. If you end up purchasing the Golds, please invite me over and I’ll bring my most expensive bottle.
2. Wine Club Membership ~ Prices may vary
British Columbians love their wine clubs, and it is perfectly normal for them to be members at five or more wineries. I love that energy. If there is a wine club at their favourite winery, sign them up and pay for a year’s subscription! They will probably share their inclusive bottles with you, so it’s a win win situation.
1. Picnic Time Wine Country Tote ~ $61.00
Picture this: it’s springtime and you are organizing the first Trinity Bellwoods day with your pals. This bag is truly a one stop shop when transporting all of your goodies. It can also double as a reusable shopping bag! I think that anyone would love to receive this gift because of its multi-purpose use.
*GIVEAWAY*
As promised, there is a little giveaway happening on my Instagram this weekend. The winner will receive a bottle of my favourite Road 13 Sparkling Chenin Blanc. It is a small yield sparkling done in the traditional method (think Champagne vibes) - a.k.a the perfect addition to your holiday dinners. This bottle is a crowd pleaser, and probably one of the top sold products at Road 13 Vineyards. So, keep your eye out!
Cheers,
JENNA! <3
